How to request a performance testing

Hello everyone!

We in PTF would like to share with you the workflow with PTF team in order for performance testing to be done preferably ahead of each release to ensure that the release is as performant as possible.

Please follow these steps if you need a feature to be tested.

  1. A Jira ticket must be created from your teams in “perf-testing (PERF)” project at least one Sprint in advance. In this article, in "JIRA Tickets" block, you can find a template of what info should be provided from your side .

In short, we want to know the following:

  • The feature should be tested (link to jira)
  • The team requested testing
  • Expected SLAs and load parameters: how many records it should be tested and the response time or duration
  • The targeted release
  • Your deadline and priority
  • The modules’ versions
  • The workflow steps.  If it’s a common workflow or one that was tested previously then no need to specify.
  • Workflow diagrams: sequence diagrams, flow charts, component diagrams that show interactions between the users and system, and the components with one another.

     2. Your created tickets will go to our backlog, and we will groom them

     3. At our nearest planning we will populate team’s Sprint Backlog, depending on the readiness of the feature for performance testing, whether it is needed in the next sprint, its priority, and the capacity of our team.

Our general recommendation to the teams is to plan performance testing in advance along with planning of your UXPROD features for flower release.

Please note, that in case jira tickets are not created in advance, don’t have specified details, and not communicated to PTF team, this may introduce a risk to not meet the expected timeline of performance testing.

4. We will communicate with you regularly once the ticket is being worked on. For each Jira we will schedule a weekly meeting with you and your tech leads to communicate the progress and results.
