For pre-2001 Library and Archives Canada number formatting, character position 00 in the 016 is supposed to be blank. To comply with this, they will sometimes have an initial blank character in this field, following the autogenerated space between the subfield and its contents. However, they are reporting that even after adding the initial space in QuickMARC, when they reopen the editor, the initial blank is stripped and only the autogenerated space is retained. Is it possible to have FOLIO leave any initial blank characters in the field as-is after adding the initial blank character?" | Notes
