Announcements

Charlotte is working with some other POs to coordinate planning how to wrap up work on moving holdings and items in a satisfactory way. We need to start discussing deletion of instances. Charlotte has written up some background information to begin this discussion. She needs a list of use cases. See Planning of development work which involves Inventory and dependent apps for more details and the use cases spreadsheet at Complete list of use cases for Deletion of instances. Charlotte encouraged all MM-SIG members to contribute with use cases.

For the requirements, will there be a small group for the first pass? Charlotte's plan is to gather use cases and then review those in the MM SIG. This is a joint  effort which is why she is reaching out to any PO whose work involves Inventory.

PC update

Release Notes/Changes
Field based permissions (App Interaction)

This discussion will happen in App Interaction about permissions specific to a field or element. What are the needs and compelling use cases for field based permissions? An example could be a need to restrict editing of the barcode only in the Item record.

You can post examples in Slack or send messages directly to Laura Daniels.

One example is to have teams that can edit whole records or not like the teams used in the Orders App.

Another example of notes. A use case is to do notes in the Orders App where one doesn't have permissions to edit the entire record and needs to edit just that one field. Notes in the bibliographic record could be another example.

Are the examples are restricting everything but?

Have you talked about the challenges of permissions and conflicts? Yes these are considerations. The more specific permissions we include, the more difficult managing permissions can be.

Propose MM-SIG relevant topics for WOLFcon

Charlotte Whitt  and All

Here link to the current list of proposed sessions: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1eJk8yjKYLE1c5G_tnuttH3r2Rz4yoE469O9uxYCAMoo/edit#gid=0

Last day for adding new topics is by Friday 5/6/2022

Laura proposed the topic of looking at the integration with Discovery, ILL, and other external systems. This is potentially an RM/MM session.

What kind of MM sessions are on the schedule? Charlotte has thought about the data sync working group. App Interaction is planning sessions on workflows that involve metadata management.

Do we need to have a topic on entity management and authority control? This would be a great topic to have at WolfCon. This will be added to the sessions.

The deadline for adding new topics is tomorrow.

PO update on new app functionality for Lotus and overview of planned work for Morning GloryAnn-Marie Breaux (Deactivated)

Presentation Slides:

For the last 2-3 releases, the bulk of the work has been on infrastructure and test writing. There haven't been a lot of new features. However, in Morning Glory and Nolana there will be new features. SPITFIRE has done some import related work when they work on MARC holdings or MARC authorities.

The bulk of the work is making DI stable and reliable. Performance was also worked on to make it more reliable and faster. The MARC-to-MARC matching has been extended.

Is Data Import job profile for overlay of records part of Smoke test? It is. Ann-Marie will double check.

Can you use wildcards in the indicators or MARC tags? You can't use wildcards. Indicator wildcards might be coming in Morning Glory.

Who tests the interaction of DI and inventory changes? Changes should be tested across apps.

If you don't fix the holdings source="marc", then are you forced to use quickMarc? No. But the holdings record will have grayed out fields. This needs to be fixed.
