Use Cases for Productivity Stats Across FOLIO

USE CASEDESCRIPTIONAPPS INVOLVEDNOTES (include links to relevant documentation if helpful)
Cataloging transactionsTracks type of cataloging (e.g., copy, original, shelf-ready, added location, rush), user id, dateInventory (& MARCcat?)Needed for internal/external reporting and troubleshooting; Cornell currently uses a 948 field in MARC bib
Postcataloging transactionTracks type of transaction (e.g., bibliographic update, reclassification, withdrawal), user id, dateInventory (& MARCcat?)Needed for internal/external reporting and troubleshooting; Cornell currently uses a 948 field in MARC bib
Precataloging transactionTracks type of transaction (e.g., receiving), user id, dateReceiving, Inventory?primarily needed for reporting?
Batch processesMay include source of data, name of job, dateInventory, Data Import, Data Exportsome overlap with human-generated transactions;
Receiving countsDetermines how many items are received by which person in receiving (this may not be something simply determined by a person interacting with a record) Also, it seems there may need to be a variation between batch receiving vs one-time receiving.  Also, not sure if this would need to be determined by format in addition to each receiver.

Receiving, Inventory? Orders?

I really need to understand the expected or planned reporting options from FOLIO - so I think much of this work will overlap with reporting in whatever form. But UChicago will want to track receiving efforts.

need more info from Acquisitions –

if something is received without an item being created, is there administrative data created?

Cataloging transactions (deux) As a PCC library, we have statistics that are intended for the PCC Directory. In addition to what  cataloger did what format cataloging (as mentioned above in Laura's 'Cataloging transactions'), we would also want a way to blend as many knowledge pieces into as few actions as possible for reasons of efficiency - and this should include information about PCC BibCO cataloging. Inventory (& MARCcat?) Reporting App?e.g., some libraries need to track PCC stuff and some do not - locally determined: Are LC records (marked 042) counted separately than PCC member, non LC) as opposed to PCC upgraed to PCC vs those already PCC.
Cataloging transactions (trois) Cataloging by format - some use of holdings may vary as eformat have eholdings and physical items have locations (which means they have physical holdings) Inventory, eHoldingsThe law library at UChicago is currently using item notes to split cataloging or added volumes for physical materials for physical materials and the MARC tag 969 for eformat cataloging. I think ideally, we would move all MARC related data points into some 'field' that we can pull from a report (outside of MARC)
Cataloging Transactions (quatre)Cataloging by language of resourceInventory (and MARCcat?)Duke University Libraries Technical Services collects and summarizes cataloging productivity by language and language groups for triannual and annual reports.
Receiving dataWe will want data and ongoing ability to read how workflows are interacting with materials over time and what might be changing with materials and expenses (not directly tied to productivity per se, but not 100 separated).  This may include 'truck counts'Inventory?, Receiving'Truck counts' are how UChicago library counts time associated with receiving actions
Cataloging queuesDuke needs data on cataloging queues by language and format out of.  Queues reflect pre-cataloging productivity and help with planning and managing cataloging activities
