  • Discussion of automated fees- Overdues, recalls, lost and replacement fees, other fees
    • Overdue fines notice overdue send out messages to patron with amount of fees in Europe, fees increase as notices go out to patrons- flat fee – Maria Grzeschniok will send fine notice to Holly
    • In the US check in and find out fee for patron
  • Fees for services- need fee rate; replacement fees- some libraries flat fee for book and some libraries research costs o book, some libraries charge processing fee for lost items, ***caution about naming this: replacement fee- IS THE LIBRARY going to replace? name: lost fee and lost processing fee
  • Overdues fines based on loan policy rules and academic calendar; overdue fees do not continue to accrue once lost- Max. charge for overdue fine; build this into loan policies- interval fees and max fees

  • Loan page design - open and close loans; Discuss close loans- how long to retain close loans data; where do you retain, keep it in logs and break patron link,** settings by library vs institution- some keep the information forever
  • Loan history- users need information on what they borrowed for years, what their history expectation of users now- Desire to give patron the ability to scrub their data **caution-- must keep some data if there is a fee associated with item-keep financial transactions for 7 years need to keep in LOAN DETAILS; Need to investigate how long keep data and what level of data needs to be kept and where is this kept in system? Privacy issues? Many institutions have to scrub data and European laws say the link to patron has to be scrubbed on return, fees and fines how long keep data? DO we really know if the data is fully scrubbed in library systems? When do you break link with patron? Option: In settings institution have option keep data or scrubbed data- needs to be configured.
