Announcements: PC Updates, Others?

  • Meeting schedule for summer: August 3, August 17

Workflow functionality discussed at PC, trying to figure out how to move forward with development. Workflow functionality wasn't ranked high on gap analysis/priority list. Index Data has been exploring how to incorporate workflow into FOLIO. Mike Gorrell has been exploring an open source product, Camunda. Discussion is going to continue at the next meeting. One point of discussion is what needs to happen centrally, in the workflow functionality, versus in individual apps.

Several people will be out August 3 so the meeting will be cancelled. Kristin will be out August 17 so Eric will convene the meeting.

Acquisitions Small Group: update and checkin

  • Meeting notes now posted!
  • Group composition and work
  • General questions/how things are going
Group is growing a bit, still comfortable with the size. Is there a way to keep up with the topics that are being discussed? It's a good idea but they haven't taken this approach because while they usually have topics they intend to cover but they often end up having to address other topics (putting out fires). Dennis will create a slack channel to put up the topics for the coming week on Thursday after their meeting. May be able to address questions on Friday. We'll see  how this goes and then reevaluate.

UAT Testing

10 people surveyed representing 6 institutions. Identified 7 general issue themes. 9 metadata issues also identified. Collected browser preference, Firefox (66%) preferred over Chrome (33%). Chrome is recommended for the first benchmark in development because it's the most functional browser. Firefox is heavily used in Europe.

General Issues identified:

  • required fields not always available or visible
  • purpose of some fields is difficult to interpret
  • some acronyms need to be eliminated
  • two users can edit the same record at the same time and the last person to save has their changes saved.
  • the way the focus works in the Add functionality leads to too much scrolling
  • difficult to identify delete button
  • keyboard shortcuts needed

Metadata issues:

  • difficulty adding fax number
  • missing zip field for contacts
  • contact URL should not be required
  • more tax fields would be useful
  • add file link to tax information would be helpful
  • some duplicate fields
  • vendor payment method should be multi-select

Search and filter:

  • navigating filters is cumbersome
  • cleaning filters should be easier
  • listing filters alphabetically is not ideal

Next step - team is going to review the comments and will identify a solution or way to handle them. Dennis can then present that back to the group and this will be recorded in JIRA.
