On occasion, libraries may wish to return items and backdate their returns, to make it look like they were returned at an earlier time. 

For example, if the library is normally open on Saturdays and Sundays, but is closed because of weather and doesn't process books until they reopen on Monday, they may wish to "backdate" those returns to make the system think they were returned Saturday morning. That way, patrons who returned books during that time would not be charged fines because library staff were not there to process their books.

Backdating returns occurs in the Check In app.

Permissions: as of January 2020, the Check In app has not had its permissions broken down granularly. That means that there is one permission for all Check-In functions:
