2023-06-15 Product Council Minutes
FOLIO supports all standard compliant desktop browsers.
In addition these browsers are supported in case they are not standard compliant and FOLIO needs to implement a workaround:
- Google Chrome for Desktop, current release from Stable Channel and from Extended Stable Channel
- Microsoft Edge for Desktop, current release
- Mozilla Firefox for Desktop, current standard release and current Extended Support Release(s) (ESR)
- Safari for Desktop, current MacOS release
Support means that a browser specific bug report is accepted and the product owner prioritizes a fix. Switching the browser is not considered a workaround.
Rationale
Many accessibility laws, including European Union law, require compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. This includes to "Maximize compatibility with current and future user agents, including assistive technologies." Browsers are user agents. Some assistive technology may not work in some browsers.
